What’s special about Happiness Character Longevity Lock Lucky Earrings

Auspicious Clouds

According to ancient legend, the heavenly emperor bestowed blessings upon the earth, and auspicious clouds descended from the sky, symbolizing happiness and prosperity. A kind-hearted farmer once encountered an auspicious cloud in his fields, which brought the promise of a bountiful harvest to his land.

As a result, the farmer's crops flourished, and the entire village thrived. Auspicious clouds are considered sacred symbols, representing good fortune and blessings. People began to pray for the arrival of auspicious clouds on joyous occasions, hoping for peace and happiness.

Over time, these clouds were seen as embodiments of good luck, and wearing items associated with auspicious clouds was believed to bring love and fortune.Later, people observed the changing shapes of the clouds and transformed them into 'auspicious cloud patterns,' which were engraved on bronzeware and royal garments or architecture, hoping to bestow blessings upon the wearer or user.

From the Sui and Tang dynasties to the Ming and Qing dynasties, auspicious clouds were popular among the imperial family and nobility. Even today, there remains a legend of the "seven-colored auspicious cloud," which is said to bring good things wherever it floats.

Longevity Lock

In ancient Chinese folklore, there was a girl named Zhao Li, born into a poor family. To wish their daughter a long and prosperous life, Zhao Li’s mother handcrafted a longevity lock for her. These locks were often made of gold or silver, intricately carved and adorned with auspicious symbols and characters, symbolizing long life and happiness.

As Zhao Li grew up, the family's financial situation gradually improved, but her parents still kept the longevity lock around her neck, hoping it would continue to protect her and bring her peace and happiness.

One day, Zhao Li met a revered Daoist master who told her that the longevity lock was not just a symbol of long life but also a representation of blessings. The master explained that as long as she remained kind-hearted and performed good deeds, the lock would bring her even greater fortune and endless blessings.

Heeding the master's advice, Zhao Li began to actively participate in charity and philanthropic activities, helping those in need. Her acts of kindness not only brought her health and longevity but also improved the lives of those around her.

Her longevity lock became a symbol of blessings and love, passed down through generations, reminding people that kindness and true love can bring more happiness and good fortune.

Happiness Character (Xi/喜)

In China, it is a long-standing tradition to display the character 'Xi' (happiness) during celebrations, particularly weddings. This custom is said to have originated with the Song Dynasty scholar Wang Anshi.

Before taking his imperial exam, Wang Anshi passed through a town and saw a couplet on a rotating lantern, with the second line left blank. After successfully completing his exam, where he impressed the chief examiner with his quick wit, Wang returned to the town and completed the couplet, earning the admiration of a wealthy man, Mr. Ma.

As a reward, Mr. Ma offered Wang his daughter's hand in marriage. On the day of the wedding, Wang received news that he had placed first in the imperial exam. Overjoyed, he wrote the character 'Double Happiness' (囍) on red paper to symbolize the double joy of both his marriage and exam success.

Since then, the 'Double Happiness' symbol has been widely used during weddings and other joyful occasions.
