Liuli(Colored Glaze)

According to legend, in ancient times, liuli was even more precious than gold and jade, making it extremely rare. Due to its immense difficulty in production, there was a saying: "A thousand households offer gold, ten thousand artisans craft liuli."There's also a beautiful love story associated with liuli. It is said that during the Spring and Autumn period, Fan Li was forging a sword for King Goujian of Yue when he discovered a magical substance that combined the gentle softness of crystal with the imposing aura of something tempered by fierce flames. Grateful for Fan Li's contribution, King Goujian returned this marvelous material to him and named it "Li" (蠡).

When Fan Li first met Xi Shi, he fashioned the "Li" into a finely crafted piece of jewelry and presented it to her as a token of their love. Unfortunately, the lovers were not destined to be together, and Xi Shi was later forced to go to the State of Wu as part of a political alliance. At their farewell, her tears fell onto the "Li," transforming into a shimmering light. As time passed, later generations who admired liuli seemed to see Xi Shi's tears flowing within it, and thus it came to be known as "Liuli" (琉璃). The name "liuli" evolved from this touching tale.
