Koi Fish

In China, the koi fish is believed to symbolize good fortune, wealth, and harmony.

There is also a myth from the Han Dynasty about carp transforming into dragons. Long ago, it was said that if the carp in the Yellow River could swim upstream and leap over the Dragon Gate, they would transform into dragons.

This challenge was incredibly difficult, but many carp continued to strive, pushing against the strong currents. Day after day, only a few carp persisted, overcoming countless obstacles. Finally, one particularly brave koi made a tremendous leap and crossed the Dragon Gate. Instantly, its body became radiant, its scales turned golden, and dragon horns appeared, transforming it into a powerful and divine dragon that soared into the sky.

From then on, the tale of "the carp leaping over the Dragon Gate" became a symbol of courage, perseverance, and success. People believe that koi can bring good luck and opportunities.

In modern times, those who are fortunate are often referred to as "koi". Many people who experience bad luck hope to become like the koi, wishing for good fortune to bring them positive outcomes.

If someone is especially lucky and gains attention, people will say 'the koi spirit has possessed them," and others will hope to 'catch some of that luck," wishing to become koi themselves.
