Zircon

According to legend, zircon was formed from blood and is said to bring good fortune. In ancient Roman mythology, Hyacinthus, the youngest son of the Spartan king, was born with striking beauty and was greatly loved by his father. The king invited Apollo, the sun god, to be the prince’s teacher, and over time, Apollo and Hyacinthus became close friends.

However, before meeting Apollo, Hyacinthus had another dear friend—Zephyr, the god of the west wind.Zephyr, feeling jealous of Apollo, became envious of their friendship. One day, while Apollo and Hyacinthus were playing discus in the garden, Zephyr, hiding in the bushes, noticed them. When it was Apollo’s turn to throw the discus, Zephyr deliberately blew a gust of wind, altering its trajectory.

Tragically, the discus struck Hyacinthus, killing him instantly. Heartbroken, Apollo cried out, 'You will live forever in my heart, and the world will never forget you.' As soon as he spoke, Hyacinthus' blood, spilled on the ground, transformed into a red gemstone—red zircon

In the 15th century, a Chinese official named Wan Hu attempted to realize his dream of space travel. He strapped himself to a chair with 47 rockets attached and held a kite in his hands, aiming to fly into the sky. Unfortunately, the rockets exploded mid-air, and Wan Hu tragically lost his life. Although his flight was unsuccessful, his attempt was groundbreaking and earned him the title of 'the world’s first astronaut.' In 1970, NASA named a crater on the far side of the moon 'Wan-Hoo' in his honor.

This gesture commemorates his legacy, not just as a tragic figure, but as a pioneer whose courage and vision paved the way for future generations of explorers. In his attempt, we see the unshakable human spirit—one that, despite the inevitable setbacks, continues to reach for the stars with unwavering determination and hope.
