In ancient times, the Heavenly Emperor gifted a ruyi scepter to the mortal world, which had the power to fulfill the holder's wishes.

A poor scholar came into possession of this ruyi and used it to help his fellow villagers, improving the lives of many. Due to his selfless deeds, the ruyi brought him endless good fortune and wisdom, eventually enabling him to excel in the imperial exams and achieve great success.

Since then, the ruyi has been seen as a symbol of good wishes and happiness, often used as a blessing for a smooth and prosperous life.

During the Wei, Jin, and Northern and Southern Dynasties, the ruyi became extremely popular, especially among emperors and nobility.

It was even said to be used in making strategic military decisions. For instance, in the Southern Dynasties, General Wei Rui used a ruyi to command his troops in the battles of Xuzhou, securing several victories in a single day.

Today, visitors to the Forbidden City in Beijing can still see the exquisite ruyi scepters crafted from precious materials during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
