Hetian Jade

Known as the "King of Jade," Hetian jade has been a highly coveted treasure among emperors and nobles throughout ancient China, witnessing the rise and fall of countless dynasties. The mysterious Kunlun Mountains are the birthplace of this precious stone. According to legend, King Mu of the Zhou Dynasty was once warmly welcomed by the Queen Mother of the West. As a parting gift, he was presented with a large collection of exquisite jade, which is believed to be the Hetian jade we know today.

Fu (福)

The character "Fu" is well-known and cherished in Chinese culture, symbolizing good fortune and blessings. The origin of the "First Fu in the World" dates back to the 12th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign, in 1673. Kangxi’s grandmother, Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang, fell seriously ill just before her 60th birthday.

Despite summoning the best doctors from across the land, her condition showed no signs of improvement. Kangxi, feeling both anxious and frustrated, remembered that he owed his success to his grandmother’s guidance and protection. When no remedy could be found, Kangxi turned to spiritual means, seeking blessings from the gods. It is said that the deities advised him to "seek fortune for longevity."

After three days of bathing and fasting, Kangxi had a sudden flash of inspiration and personally wrote the character "Fu" (福). He then commissioned skilled craftsmen to carve the character into a slab of bluestone. Kangxi carried the stone on his back into the palace hall and knelt before it, praying for his grandmother’s recovery.

After seven days and nights of prayer, Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang's health gradually improved. Overjoyed, Kangxi placed this "Fu" in the palace as a symbol of protection and fortune.
